From Sugar Mill to Luxury Hotel, Alila Yangshuo, China

Once a working sugar mill, Alila Yangshuo is now a modern retro resort, combining stylish simplicity, in tandem with its picturesque setting.

The destination is at the heart of the Alila Yangshuo Experience and integrates indigenous nature, traditional culture, and the local community, providing guests with an authentic and meaningful holiday. Guided by a dedicated Alila Leisure Concierge team, guests are invited to explore and discover the charm and beauty of the Yangshuo region through bespoke activities across five themes – Cultural Learning, Conscious Living, Active Spirits, Culinary Arts and Couple Celebration.

Renowned as a paradise on Earth, Yangshuo is famous for its landscape of Karst mountains, green hills, and winding rivers, resembling a beautiful Chinese painting. In the midst of this stunning scenic landscape, an old sugar mill takes on the heritage setting for a modern retro design resort that is Alila Yangshuo.

Designed by Dong Gong of Vector Architects, with interiors by award-winning Ju Bin of Horizontal Space Design, the vision for Alila Yangshuo is to integrate the new with the old, paying homage to the unique history of these heritage buildings.

The main guestroom building features simple yet strong lines and a combination of local stone and bamboo in the perfect balance of hard and soft. Designed in harmony with the natural landscape, it creates the feel of exploring a karst cave and embraces nature’s mystery.
