Galvin at Windows located on the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane might just be one of the most romantic spots in London. This French-meets-Korean One MICHELIN starred eatery offers whispering views that over-look London’s landscape including London’s Hyde Park that really allows any native Londoner a reason to fall in love with this cultural melting pot all-over-again, and for those just visiting a reason to come back.
Galvin at Windows presents a simple but elegant backdrop. Interiors are sleek, dark woods and cream upholstery is accented by round tables with white table cloth, which we only feel allows us to respect the city and the cuisine awaiting to be presented. Run by Head Chef Joo Won who helps sum up this culinary diverse city, blending French cuisine with his heritage Korean influences.
The menu which does offer Sunday Brunch also offers its Menu du jour [single ordering plates], Menu Prestige [Set luxe dining menu] and its Degustation Menu [Chefs Selection] a magical pairing of best dishes and wine matched in-house by Won and the Sommelier team at Galvin at Windows.
Chef Won really showcases his love and respect of seasonal produce through his story-telling food pairings which in turn brings so much joy to the palette. Raw kingfish is paired with cucumber, kohlrabi & sweet chilli, presented as a ceviche only entices you a little more into Won’s culinary journey, serving up refined moments with a sense of home.
Staple home Korean flavors such as Kimchi, is the update to a classic Risotto which is paired with more traditional egg & truffle, all-the-while Won continues to sprinkle and twist elements of home and tradition with each dish coming perfectly wrapped with its own wine pairing of Worldly wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Fransola, Torres, Penedés, Spain to its beautiful selection of reds and if you’d like a little more opulence, champagne.
If the ever-sense of floating above the city doesn’t capture you the updated take on French cuisine sure will, and holding One Michelin star this is an ultimate stop off for any culinary adventurer looking to take a sense of what this city really is about, and its homage to cultural appreciation.
