Shoreditch has become the hub of new restaurants and food stalls as of late and Beijing street food Mamalan has joined this booming space. Beginning in 2010 as a supper club, Mamalan founder Ning Ma pays homage to her mothers cooking and has seen 6 sites sprout up across London since then.
Focused around family and that feeling of hearty food Mamalan offers simples foods very reminiscent of the little market stall idea it began from. The food here is easy, unfussy but really enjoyable.
This is where you go when you just want to to lay low and have a good meal. Mamalan offers great street food side dishes that are perfect for sharing and the portions are reasonable. Spicy chicken wings, king prawn & chinese water chestnuts (Bolied dumplings) offering great traditional flavours.
One option we say really dive into is their vegan options. We’re big meat eaters but do love when an eatery can offer us a vegetarian option that brings us on the edge of conversion. Spicy ribbon tofu ban mein noodle Salad will probably do that for you.
The prices are fair so eat to hearts content here and you won’t need to break the bank.
