De Culinaire Werkplaats is a concept restaurant and art studio based in the heart of Amsterdam on Fannius Scholtenstraat. Run by Chefs and artistic duo Marjolein Wintjes and Eric Meursing the menu offers design ‘dinner plates of the future.’ choosing to serve up vegetable dishes vs meat. The-space houses a central kitchen, open to diners to view and a 30 people dining room.
The menu which is on constant update taking on a new form in relation to what’s happening in the world it is an immersive dining experience set to expand your mind whilst satisfying your taste buds. De Culinaire Werkplaats does not want to labeled as a vegetarian or vegan restaurant but simply wants to remain a concept dining room delivering surprising creations and techniques. The reasoning behind serving up vegetarian options is simply the intent to offer diners a healthy, organic and cohesive experience.
There is no doubt what is plated here is simply eye pleasing and imagination on a plate. Each dish is explained to us by Marjolein Wintjes and we are then not sure if we should eat it or frame it. The latter is the wrong choice. Dive into the dishes, the arts, and the simple wine offering and don’t forget to sink those dishes.
