Located just a stone throw away from bustling Trafalgar Square and the exclusive St James’s The Balcon offers up fine dining cleverly disguised and shut out from the madness of touristic London. Head-Chef Matt Greenwood offers up true restaurant style dishes even though connected to a Sofitel Hotel.
The decor and grandeur of the hotel and restaurant are made to stun you, The Balcon sets a great backdrop for business and leisure. The French eatery doesn’t just offer your standard French dishes but Greenwood incorporates his loves of local, fresh produce, and the menu uses seasonal ingredients and offers traditional French dishes in a contemporary style.
Beef Tartare is paired with house cut rosemary fries and caviar, while, foie gras is pan-fried with vanilla & onion purée, pickled salsify, and radish. The food offering here is spectacular and the wine and cocktail pairing is there to match.
We visited during Sofitels annual program of Wine Days where Sofitel hotels around the world celebrate wine and art-de-vivre so there really was a buzz in the bar and dining room, so it might just be a bit calmer out of these time. (September and October) to coincide with the harvest period in France.
The Balcon also offers a Tea-Room, private dining and breakfast so time can be spent in abundance here. To Book head here.
