The Trading House, St Pauls
Words by Marvin Maddix
A trading house is an exporter, importer and also a trader that purchases and sells products for other businesses and/or persons. The London Trading House, St Pauls embodies this ideal of travel, collection and discovery. The Pub/Bistro styled restaurant and bar is located on Gresham Street, London and brings together the cities diners and drinkers.
This dark lit space is ripe with opulence from its marble floors, wooden decking and walls to the collection of nouveau and collectable artefacts that scatter across this Grade II listed building.
The Menu offers world foods from all parts of the globe but quintessentially this is international Pub grub. For starter the baked camembert and gambas pil pil had great flavours, fresh produce and arrived well presented, what does let this eatery down is the tendency to run out of ingredients. You won’t be disappointed with the alternative but, it gets busy, so call ahead and check.
The London Trading House offers a great selection of meats from its succulent 8oz fillet steak cooked to perfection to its more signature Hanging Kebabs.(Your traditional kebab served up in a nouveau and contemporary way paired with trademarked combinations. A great feature is the ‘deli board’, which allows you to choose four items from a list of over 21 small dishes for a fixed price. For dessert we opted for the rocky road kebab a blend of strawberry, hazelnut brownie, marshmallow, biscuit sauce and chocolate crumb dissected on a skewer.
For us the city cliental can get a little rough and tumble so don’t come seeking a intimate dining experience.
