Through our tour through Italy, we arrived in Rome after our new found love of guided tours, we wanted to get to know the Eternal city but also try something a little different. Segway Roma was our chosen choice of Tour guide through this historically polluted city.
Segway Roma if you didn’t grasp from the name offers historic tours through the city on the Segway HT (human transporter). A personal transporter that employs a revolutionary combination of electronics, mechanics and computer science. Powered by electricity, it is technically advanced, eco-friendly and highly innovative, can travel at up to 20km per hour and has a range of 40km; a contemporary scooter that can move forwards and backwards, turn around and stop, depending on how you move…it’s like an extension of your body!
We opted for the 2hr tour through Villa Borghese and Rome capital. Starting in Piazza del Popolo you are met by Training staff and ran through security measures. (Don’t worry this is a short tutorial and real easy to grasp). Do remember one person in your group will need to bring ID.
Our guide was brilliant, Eddy wasn’t just there to take us through the third largest public park in Rome, Raphael’s chosen burial ground the Pantheon, the colonnade in Piazza di Pietra and the Fontana della Barcaccia (fountain of the ugly boat) in Piazza di Spagna but also helped to inform us about architecture, archology, history and even food. Eddy kept this new touring experience about the art which we loved.
With tours going between €45-€70 per person your able to explore, take a piece of history away with you and have loads of fun while learning.
This is school on Acid. Love it.
