If you don’t have much time in the eternal city but you want to do some luxury dining Aroma is probably where you want to be. This Michelin starred restaurant situated on the rooftop of Palazzo Manfredi, the 17th century villa is mere meters away from the former site of the Ludus Magna, the barracks and training school for the Colosseum’s gladiators. Palazzo Manfredi also hosts a 5 star Hotel and it’s very own Aroma Bistrot, for a more Laid-back meal served by the same Chef, Giuseppe Di Iorio.
“A contemporary dining room overlooking the Colosseum and Emperor Nero’s Gardens, Aroma is quite simply a magical rooftop garden restaurant near Colosseum. The stylish decor is welcoming and relaxing, whilst the glass observatory offers an all-year round dining experience complimented by exceptional cuisine and a breath-taking view.”
Aroma restaurant houses approx. 15 tables so booking is advised if this is in your plans when visiting. This rooftop gem is enclosed and surround by glass in winter and open to the elements in summer will surely take your breath away. This seemed most surely as couples getaway. The atmosphere is classic, romantic and imaginative. Michelin Starred Chef Giuseppe Di Iorio, selects and curates a menu mixing local produce and imagination.
What adds to this sought-after eatery is the staff. Knowledge is power here, there understanding of the produce, ingredients but most importantly service makes the food and sensual experience that much sweeter. We were offered an incredible selection of fine Italian wines from several regions of the country, but more importantly the sommelier recommended wines that compliment and enhanced every moment.
We went with the Aroma’s Tasting Menu. A selection of Chef Giuseppe Di Iorio’s great innovations and vision of Italian cuisine. Classic Italian flavours , from “Pappardelline” pasta with “Gallinella” fish, baby spinach and “Taggiasche” olives to his Cappellotti” pasta filled with buffalo mozzarella and borage with white truffle fondue. Do not hold back here, Aroma is a night of over indulgence. The Tasting menu offers a stream of options from fish to meat and will need to be ordered for all guests seated at the table
After the 7 course meal plus wine you will feel satisfied and in no way guilty. To finish your served a small but enough mouth full of sweet. A soft biscuit and a green tea crumble with white chocolate mousse and salted caramel sauce.
The Menu will set you back €150 to €230 per person not including wine but in every way not just dining but an unmissable experience. A recommended “Go See” experience in Rome.
