Hotel Cerretani: Florence, Italy

Words by Marvin Maddix

Hotel Cerretani, Florence is part of the MGallery by Sofitel, A string of Luxury Boutique hotels sprouting up in some of the most prestigious and metropolitan cities in the world. The Cerretani, Florence located in the Centre of this bustling historical and artistically rich city is walking distance from Piazza del Duomo Santa Maria del Flore, Battistero di San Giovanni and Michelangelo’s David.

Now Florence is one of those great cities that has history concentrated all within a few blocks so Cerretani offers you convenience on your door step and a comfortable sleep.

Cerretani doesn’t seem to match other M Gallery hotels we’ve visited but it does have great modern décor mixed with Florentine touches. When you enter the hotel, you are met with great staff, fluent in English and Italian, (Be aware if you’re a British traveller you will need a Passport on check-in) and there is a €4 city tax per person per night that is not included in your hotel booking.

Rooms are fitted with great finishing and views that overlook the city and if you’re lucky the square. What we loved about Cerretani was it commitment to be greener. Cards are offered to every guest in the room to reduce towel usage and amount of times bed linen is changed, for us big business supporting economic change is worth supporting.

Breakfast can be purchased with room for €22 each per night but with some of the best Italian eateries on your door step we recommend better hitting the town and getting lost down some of the picturesque streets, especially as service at Cerratani can be a tad slow if it’s a busy morning rush or understaffed.

Hotel Cerretani is worth the visit but be aware it can get pretty pricey during peak season with a King room costing around €635 a night, we say bag a deal and head there just before spring or high demand.
