Home Sweet Home by Ria Keburia

“Home Sweet Home” is the latest collection by Georgian gallerist and curator Ria Keburia. The designer who presented her collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi in the form of a performance.

The piece sees groups of performers come together to build and form a working home from bodies. Sinks, Chairs, and Mirrors are held up and supported by models to externalize and form a  living organism.  Keburia wanted her ‘Home’ to blur and mask the ideas of Body objectification and gender roles.

Through this performance, I tried to create an illusionary house, a living organism of model objects needed for everyday life. This story was staged in the theatre, which gave it a really big exposure. It was like a traditional theatrical piece, yet still maintaining the contemporary touch. The ‘home my Sweet Home’ combined four collaborators: Marusia Nizauvtsova went for garments, Anya Mokhova took care of the exterior, Muzaradi came in with hats, and Leather-Like Wood’s accessories perfectly decorated the interior. My performance showcased the appearance of a house I would live in, highlighting the human-object relationship.
