FGUK FOOD: Clerkenwell Grind, Old Street

Words by Marvin Maddix

“3 words: Elegant. Cool. Delicious.”

The Clerkenwell GRIND is just one part of  seven across London. This kitsch East London kitchen boasts a great selection of foods and great lavish interiors. close to the Barbican Centre on Old Street.  The Clerkenwell GRIND sits in a great location for being part of a great day out.

The Clerkenwell GRIND offers timed menu options between breakfast(7-12pm),  lunch (12-17.30pm) and Dinner(17.30-22.30pm). If you can’t make it during those social hours don’t worry this is still East London,  The GRIND will be offering food at the bar until 1am.

Black fig, wild boar speck, pecorino and toast

The cuisine  features fresh British produce blended with Italian ingredients. Dishes here offer a great blend of flavours that really get you enjoying food.  We recommend the Black fig, wild boar speck, pecorino and toast as starter and the classic Italian White Truffle tagliolini as a main.

There’s a great atmosphere at The Clerkenwell GRIND.  Filled with the young and creative, It can get noisy so if you’re looking for a quite one, you might want to time your visit. The interiors are ‘Insta-ready’ from the marble tables to the blue velvet sofas, gold detailing and the all pink bathroom.

We do think desserts could be more traditional but overall definitely a restaurant to experience, we’ll be back soon.
