Erica Deeman challenges photographing Men of Colour in her new Series “Brown”

Erica Deeman a San Francisco based Artist received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Public Relations, degree in 2000 from Leeds Beckett University, Leeds, UK and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Photography, degree in 2014 from Academy of Art, San Francsico, CA.Deeman has now unveiled her new photography series titled “Brown” . A simple series addressing  the omission of black men from the tradition of formal portraiture. “Men of colour historically were not granted the opportunity to appear sympathetic in portraits.” says Deeman.

Erica Deeman’s, Brown will be available to view at Anthony Meier Fine Arts in San Francisco from March 24 until April 28.
