In conversation with young designer Marius Janusauskas

FG meets Marius Janusauskas, Emerging designer for same sake label presents collections which often reference art, literature, and menswear and are perfectly fit on a female’s form.

Who are you?

I am Marius, but people call me Markus, Mario, Mariusu, Mariuske and Marelis.

What do you do?

Clothing to me is a universal language which constantly changes and evolves. To speak the language you must update your vocabulary and never settled for the things you know. I speak fashion.

When did you begin?

It all started at the age of 6 when I first realised that my parents and I are speaking completely different languages in terms of clothing. I was a queer child who loved cross-dressing that led me into a very difficult childhood during Soviet Union regime. Back then I discovered fashion as the only escape from the normality that kills creativity and self-expression.

Where are you going?

On the personal level, I am going to live my dream and explore things which make me happy and fulfilling on the everyday basis. Professionally I wish to explore my potential and continue working in the fashion industry for the rest of my life. I am here for the long run.

What should people understand about your work?

My work reflects a current moment, it is completely open to anyone’s interpretation.
